Spring 21st March 2022

This is the time for rebirth, new growth, transformational changes and spring bring us Joy and Hope for the future for the warmer months to follow and we begin to dream of the holidays and happy times. The flowers of spring bring us hope, many of the spring flowers are yellow eg daffodils, primroses and they bring us upliftment after the dark months of winter.  Connect with Spring flowers and learn about their healing.

Signs of spring are everywhere, the trees are starting to blossom, the hedgerows are full of primroses, leaves are sprouting into life everywhere you look.  This is the time of the Spring Equinox a time between the Winter Solstice and the Summer Solstice a time of balance and if you stop and really connect to the earth you can feel a sense of balance at this time, the Wheel is moving towards Summer and the earth is waking up, flowers, plants, crops, and trees are coming into life, the days are getting longer and warmer.  Yet is still may be cool for a few more weeks.  Mother Nature is birthing her flowers and plants, night and day are in balance at this time, and you will really feel it.  Think about what is stirring within you, what areas need grounding, and you can use flowers to the ground or the grounding meditation and crystals if you choose. This is a time when the light and energy shifts really start to flow and you may choose to spend an hour a week really anchoring the new light.  In the past we may have gone to church to connect with the divine light, now we can stand in our gardens, and just allow the light to be received, embedded and it begins again.  What is wanting to emerge this Spring?

Summer June 20th 2022

This is the time of the English country garden, the time when the parks and open spaces are filled with flowers, my garden too, filled with flowers that bloom throughout the summer months of sunshine.

This is the time of the longest day and the shortest night of the year; it is the time when the Goddess is portrayed at full and pregnant with her Child and the Sun God is at the height of his strength.  Mother Nature is at work in every way with the flowers and trees leave and in flower, it’s a time of joy and celebration and a time for happiness.

Buttercup flowers bloom in spring and still fill the fields at Midsummer they continue to bring their energies of joy and happiness, uplifting the fields for many months. They connect us to our childlike innocence of yesteryear and their cups of golden nectar bring peace and wisdom to the simplest of places on earth.

The Elder tree is in bloom with its white Elderflowers at this time, you can smell their delicate fragrance on the summer breeze, their tiny star-like petals, that you can collect to make a cordial they connect us the magical realms of fairies and Venus.

The Oak tree and its Guardian the Oak King are amongst the key Gods connected with Midsummer as the Oak King who has ruled from Yule to now, surrenders to the Holly King who gains in power up to the Winter Solstice at Yule.  It is a time of heightened energy and of magic, a time of abundance and celebration.  But as this day ends and the sunset, we know that the days will be getting shorter and darker as the coming months come in, in our ever-moving Wheel of the Year.

Autumn 19th September 2022

This is the time of the harvest, the time of gathering what we have sowed, it is also the time when the trees start to shed their leaves in preparation for winter.  I do like Autumn I love the new beginnings at this time of year, I taught in schools for many years, and this was always a new start, a new term.  Autumn is full of golden colours of oranges, yellows and reds.

This is the time of the Autumn Equinox, a time when the day and light is equal a time of balance, it is the time of the second harvest too and an important one for harvest festivals.  I remember these as a child of collecting things to take to the harvest festival and going later to the sales to buy vegetables, fruits, marrows, etc to take home to enjoy.  This was the time of the giving thanks to the Sun God to the land for all its bounty, for the food that we have grown to feed ourselves and our families.

Again, with our advancement in farming and abundance of food in the United Kingdom, this is a festival that has lost its focus since I was a child.  It's an interesting time to pause, set up an altar, and give thanks for all that we have achieved, for the fruits and vegetables we have grown.  The many blessings we have in our lives and a time for inner reflection.  As we go into the Autumn days the colour of Orange and Gold replace the greens and newness of Spring and the flowers fade.  It's a time of going into the Gold of ourselves and filling up our essences with golden light.

Winter 19th December 2022

In the United Kingdom winter, the flowers die down, the trees have shed their leaves and we go into our dormant phase, it can be difficult to keep going at the same pace as summer during the months of winter. Most of the flowers or leaves are now evergreens or with berries.  If you grew Helichrysum flowers now you can have dried ones in your home.

This is the long-awaited Winter Solstice, the return of the light, in effect you don't really see more daylight in the terms of longer days until the end of February, but it begins here on the shortest days and longest of nights.  Just as I love the Midsummer Solstice I look forward to Yule, for the return of the light.   This is the time of Christmas too, of the birth of Jesus Christ and we celebrate that all over the world with our modern-day feasts, presents, and celebrations with families and friends.

This is the time of Christed Light and of gold and wise men, a time of Mother Mary becoming the mother and of stables and humble beginnings, it is a time of Joy and Hope too.

At this time of year, the Holly King now loses his power and the Oak King comes back with his strength growing day by day.  There is always this balance between the Holly and the Oak trees that play out in our celebrations of the Yule time of year.
